| You will be happy to know that a Nats starter made it out of the 2nd inning for the first time in the series. Scott Olsen managed to go 4 innings, and the Phillies get 6 runs off him with adventure. Olsen makes two errors, one on a pickoff attempt totally mising first base and another error overthrowing first on a ground ball, along with a wild pitch allowing the Phils to get a run. Not to be outdone, Mike Hinkley has one of the more bizzare relief outings I have seen walking 6 over his two innings including two with the bases loaded. Meanwhile, Brett Myers goes 6 fairly okay innings with 9 whiffs for the win. The Nats do get a couple of runs off of a wild Jack Trashner in the 9th to make the score somewhat respectable but cannot avoid the series sweep. I can't see how you have won any games with this team. From what I have seen in this series of the Nationals they can't field worth a shit, can't pitch worth a shit and sure as hell will not win any track meets. Checking out the stats for the 5-15 Nats, they have the worst ERA in baseball at 5.87, and that is with 23 of their runs being unerned. Their average runs per game given up is just shy of 7! On top of that, they only have 3 (yes, 3!!) stolen bases so far through the first 20 games, and 27 errors for the worst fielding in the league by far. That stolen base total almost rivals some of those early 80s Red Sox teams, and that is saying something. Good luck with them this year, you are going to need it. :) |
