April 25, 2009 Marlins 3, Phillies 2

Scott Eyre today gets a tough loss to take. Jorge Cantu doubles off of Eyer to lead off the bottom of the 9th with the score tied 2-2, and I call on stopper Brad Lidge to try to keep it tied. Doesn't work quite as planned. Lidge does get Dan Uggla to pop up for the first out. With Cantu still at second base and now one out, since he is the only runner that matters Jeremy Hermedia is intentionally walked to set up the doupleplay. Lidge then forgets where the strike zone is as he walks Cody Ross to load the bases and then walks Cameron Maybin as Cantu just trots across the plate with the winning run. Nothing more agonizing than a walk-off walk. Since Eyre was responsible for Cantu being on the bases to begin with, he gets the loss.

Shane Victorino gets one of the more interesting 0 for 5 day you will have with a popout, groundout, lineout, strikeout and a foulout. All he needed was a flyout and that would be just about all of the possible ways that a batter can get out without reaching base.
