| Dustin Pedroia finally breaks out of an 0 for 18 slump with an RBI single and David Ortiz hits his 8th homerun of the year while the Sox outhit the Rays 10-9, but it is nowhere near enough thanks to Evan Longoria. Longoria knocks in 5 of the 6 Tampa runs with a 3 for 5 day with 2 homeruns. Brad Penny, even with his ERA over 6, finally suffers his first loss in a Red Sox uniform and the Rays move into a virtual tie with the Sox for second in the AL East, 1/2 game behind the Blue Jays. |
