| Raul Ibanez homers for the third straight game, today with a 2-run shot, and Jimmy Rollins gets 3 hits as the Phils beat the Nats with ease. Ryan Howard rips homerun number 18 to continue his MVP style season so far (.311, 18 HR, 35 RBI), and Brett Myers hepls his own cause with his 3rd double for the season and a sizzling .500 batting average (8 for 16). More importantly, the win combined with a Marlins loss gives the Phillies the division lead for the first time this season. Florida, at one time the hottest team in the league at 18-5 at the beginning of the month, has stumbled along recently at 3-11 while over the same stretch the Phils have gone 10-3 to make up 7 1/2 games in the standings. |
