| Raul Ibanez is really making his hits count in recent days. His one hit in yesterday's game was good for a grand slam, and his one hit today goes one out of the park for a 3-run shot off of the still winless 0-6 John Lannan. That right there was enough to send the Nationals to their 3rd straight loss, and losers of six of their last seven for a major league worst 9-25 record. Seventh win in nine games for the Phillies, who sit 1/2 game behind Florida in the division despite one less loss than the Marlins. The Marlins are 21-15 compared to the Phillies 19-14, so even with the one less loss being two wins short gives them the 1/2 game defecit. The Nationals scored their two runs on a 2-run homer for Adam Dunn, his team-leading 8th for the year. Ryan Howard also ripped one out for the Phillies for his major league leading 17th homerun. |
