May 10, 2009 Phillies 8, Braves 3

Both temas swing for the fences with three homers apiece, but the Phillies make better use of theirs. Matt Stairs rips a 2-run shot in a rare start in right field to tie the score in the 2nd, Raul Ibanez also smokes a 2-run blast in the 3rd after two runs had already scored to end Braves starter Kenshin Kawakami's day and Greg Dobs adda a pinch-hit homerun. For the Braves, Yunel Escobar, Casey Kotchman and Garret Anderson each had solo dingers. For Anderson, a nice 4 for 4 day falling a triple shy of the cycle. All Phillie starters with hits including pitcher Brett Myers, who has an impressive .583 average (7 for 12 with two doubles).

As you can see by the ERAs of the Braves who pitched today, pitching isn't Atlanta's strong suit. Their team ERA of 5.29 is second worst in the league behind the 5.61 of (yep you guessed it) the Washington Nationals.

Raul Ibanez connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the Philadelphia
Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves 8 to 5 at Citizen's Bank Park.

Brett Myers(4-3) had a fairly solid outing. He went 6 innings allowing 7 hits
and 1 walk and surrendered 3 homeruns. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame,
scoring in 5 different innings was still not enough for Atlanta to come away
with the victory.

Brad Lidge recorded his 8th save. Kenshin Kawakami(2-4) was the losing
pitcher. He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
