Today was all Tampa as Matt Garza brings out his "A" game holding the Sox to only two hits and striking out 11 for the shutout. The only two Sox hits were a Jacoby Ellsbury single in the 4th and a David Ortiz double in the 9th. Garza walks 3, and Daisuke Matsuzaka strikes out 7 for the Sox in a losing effort. Not much to be happy about so far in Beantown with only a .169 batting average through the first three games and only seven runs scored. Carl Crawford brings out his running shoes, stealing 3 bases. Twice he tried to steal second and third, the first time sucessful with both and the second time stole second but was caught stealing third base.

Matt Garza pitched a 2 hit shutout and Matt Joyce lofted one into the 'cheap
seats' as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Boston Red Sox 5 to 0 at Fenway
Park.
 
Garza(1-0) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Boston
hitters.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 2 hits and 3 walks in 9
innings.  Garza racked up 11 strikeouts.  Tampa Bay managed only 6 hits on
the afternoon.  
 
Daisuke Matsuzaka(0-1) ended up with the loss.  Garza, when asked about his 11
strikeout performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20
and we lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we
won it feels great!'
