April 5, 2009 Phillies 13, Braves 4 (Phillies opener)

After opening last season with a six game road trip, the Phillies open this year at home and make the hometown fans proud as they put the lumber to work. 13 runs on 17 hits with highlights being Jimmy Rollins leading off the Phillies season with a homer, Ryan Howard adds a 2-run shot and Raul Ibanez makes the most of his Phillie debut with a 3 for 5, 5 RBI day including a 3-run bomb. Brett Myers helps out his own cause with 2 hits, a walk, a run scored and an RBI as he gets the easy win in 7 innings or work.

Not faring well in their debut with a new team - old friend Derek Lowe. The Phillies take him to the cleaners, getting 9 runs and 13 hits off Lowe in 5 innings or work as his Braves debut goes south - way south!!
