| The offense is totally offensive again today, being shutout for the second straight day this time by Shawn Hill who tosses a two-hitter. His mound counterpart, Brett Myers, sucks the joint out as the Pads get 7 of their runs in the first 3 innings of the game off of Myers. On the positive side, the Phillies bullpen holds up well allowing four hits and one run over the final 6 innings with JA Happ (James Anthony, if you are curious) going four with that one Padre run against him. |

Kouzmanoff enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly' in the 2nd inning, slapped a single in the 3rd inning and ripped a
solo home run in the 5th inning. San Diego had 10 hits for the night.
Hill(1-1) was credited with the shutout. The loss was charged to Brett
Myers(2-1). He was unable to control the San Diego offense and allowed 6
hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.
