| Cole Hamels tosses the first complete game shutout for a Phillie pitcher this season, scattering five hits and walking one. The only inning with a serious Nats threat was the 8th with two singles and a walk sandwiched around an out to load the bases, but Ryan Zimmermann grounds into an inning-ending doubleplay to keep the Nationals off the scoreboard. Nationals starter Shairon Martis, who in his previous start pitched a complete game shutout for his first win of the year, goes back to his losing ways and falls to 1-8 which ties him for the major league lead in losses with former Phillie (now Dodger) Randy Wolf, who is also 1-8. Another former Phillie, Gavin Floyd, leads the AL in losses with a 2-7 record for the White Sox. |
