Chase Utley and Ryan Howard do their jobs by knocking one out, Utley's 18th and Howard's 31st, but the Philly pitchers can't hold back the homer-happy Cubbies as they slap five out of the yard and put 13 runs on the scoreboard for the second-most lopsided loss for the Phillies on the season. The most lopsided - a 13-0 loss to the Padres back in April. Those two games and one other one are the only times the Phillies have allowed 10 runs or more in a game. The loss ends a 6 game winning streak for the Phillies, but they still maintain a three game lead over Florida in the NL East. |

Third baseman Aramis Ramirez went deep and had 2 RBI at Citizen's Bank Park as
the Chicago (NL) Cubs embarrassed the Philadelphia Phillies by the lopsided
score of 13 to 2.
Philadelphia was unable to claim the lead after Chicago (NL) went ahead in the
3rd inning scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits. Koyie Hill hit a
bases-empty home run. Ted Lilly was next to the plate, but was promptly
struck out. Kosuke Fukudome followed, but he was set down on strikes. Ryan
Theriot came up and he stroked a single. Derrek Lee was the next batter, but
he struck out. Chicago (NL) had 17 hits overall, while Philadelphia had 4.
Lilly(9-4) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Rodrigo Lopez(1-1)
was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 10 hits and 2
walks in 4 innings.
