July 2, 2009 Phillies 2, Braves 1

Just the kind of pitchers duel that I was expecting today - J.A Happ, with his 5-1 and 2.23 ERA since moving to the rotation for the Phils going against the Braves' Javier Vasquez, who sat at 7-2 with an NL 3rd best 2.02 ERA. The Phils score in the first two innings, getting a run in the first after Chipper Jones commits an error scoring a run in the first inning and a Pedro Feliz double followed by a Carlos Ruiz single to lead off the 2nd gets run number two. Atlanta gets on the board in the 5th when Matt Diaz homers, but Happ buckles down and retires 12 of the final 13 batters he faced after the homer. Brad Lidge takes the final two batters of the 9th and gets his 15th save. Vasquez's ERA goes down to an even 2.00 by only allowing one earned run in six,, but he gets saddled with the tough-luck loss.
