| Josh Beckett gets smoked for four runs in the Orioles first inning and has his worst start since Opening Day almost three months ago, but his teammates take him off the hook twice to give him his 10th win of the year. The Sox manhandle the Orioles pitching, scoring in seven innings. Good day to be named Jason, as both Bay and Varitek each get three hits and three RBI with every Sox starter having at least one hit and all but JD Drew scoring at least one run. |

Jason Bay jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox
outscored the Baltimore Orioles 11 to 6.
Baltimore never recovered after Boston took the lead in the 5th inning as they
scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. The big moment was provided by Jason Varitek
who silenced the stadium when he lashed a single which was good for two runs.
The Boston offense man-handled the Baltimore pitching staff as they scored
in 7 of the 9 innings.
The win was credited to Josh Beckett(10-5) who went 5 innings allowing 6 runs.
Chris Ray(0-1) took the loss in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no walks
without retiring a batter.
