| If you look at the hit collumn, it looks like a laughers with 14 Atlants hits compared to only 4 for the Phillies. Unbelievably, it was a 6-all tie entering the bottom of the 9th. Two errors for the Braves lead to three unearned runs and the odd-looking 6-4-1 line for the Phillies. All for naught, as Brian McCann gets hold of a Ryan Madson pitch and deposits it into the seats for a walk-off 2-run homerun. The entire game the Phillies had more runs than hits after a Cole Hamels sacrafice bunt is thrown over first base by eventual hero McCann to give the Phils a run with no hits after a walk and hit batter but two on. It was almost two runs with no hits, but Paul Bako holds third on a 1-11sac fly. An error in the bottom of the inning for Chase Utley gives the Phils a Jerrimoth Hill line on the scoreboard at the time, until the 5th. Go ahead, ask. What the hell is a Jerimoth Hill line? The line of 1-0-1, one run with no hits and one error. Route 101 is where Jerimoth Hill, the highest point in Rhode Island, is henceforth a 1-0-1 being a Jerimoth Hill line. Okay, I stretched that one a ways to come up with that but hey it souned good! |

Matt Diaz had 4 hits at Turner Field as the Philadelphia Phillies lost a
heartbreaker to Atlanta Braves by the score of 8 to 6.
Atlanta came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 9th
inning scoring 2 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Martin Prado
started the rally when he smacked a single. Chipper Jones followed, but he
was set down on strikes. Brian McCann then smashed a two-run homer resulting
in a mighty exciting win for Atlanta and the 30,139 home town fans in
attendance. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
Mike Gonzalez(1-2) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Ryan
Madson(3-4) was hit with the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 2
hits in 2/3 of an inning.
