| Brad Penny gets his best start in over a month and gets two hits to help his cause, but despite that and 3 steals for Jacoby Ellsbury none of it did any good with Braves starter Tommy Hanson (almost put Tommy Hodson lol) holding the Sox scoreless for the first 7 innings. The two Jasons, Bay and Varitek, both walk and Nick Green sends them both home on a double in the 8th to break the scoreless tie. Score should have been higher, but the Sox leave 12 stranded including the bases loaded twice. The win gives the Sox a sweep of the Braves, with two of the gamnes being shutouts. Atlanta only scores one run in the three games. It also concludes the interleague play at a 12-6 clip for Boston. Only the New York Yankees (who the Sox still trail by a game) and Minnesota Twins fared better at 14-4 each, with the Twins riding a current 11 game winning streak and a huge 7 game lead in the AL Central. |

Brad Penny delivered 7 solid innings at Turner Field as the Boston Red Sox
beat the Atlanta Braves by the count of 2 to 0.
Penny(6-6) gave Boston a solid outing. He didn't give up much, just 2 hits
and no walks in 7 innings. Penny got help from Jonathan Papelbon who pitched
a perfect ninth and was credited with his 18th save.
Tommy Hanson(3-2) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings and
surrendered 5 hits and 7 walks.
